ISTQB Foundation – Certified Tester (Syllabus v2018) Course

ISTQB Foundation Level is relevant across software delivery practices including Waterfall, Agile, DevOps and Continuous Delivery.
The new 2018 syllabus is recognised as a pre-requisite to other ISTQB® certifications where Foundation Level is required (note: all previous releases of Foundation Level, including the 2011 syllabus and “grandfathered” Foundation Level certifications, will remain valid).

What’s has changed in Syllabus 2018

Fewer K1 Learning Objectives (LO) in general (15 LO in 2018 compared with 27 LO in 2011)
Less focus on Chapter 5 Test Management (15 LO in 2018 compared with 24 LO in 2011)
More emphasis on review, a K3 LO has been added to Chapter 3 (Static Analysis by Tools section has been removed, and will be covered in other syllabi)
More emphasis on test techniques in Chapter 4 (Section 4.1 of 2011 moved and merged with section 1.4 of Chapter 1)
Agile is mentioned in the content of the syllabus (But not included in the wording of any LO)
White-box techniques are downgraded (K4 and K3 LO removed – these topics will be covered in other ISTQB® syllabi.)
ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119 is now used for reference instead of IEEE Standard 829.ISO/IEC 25010 is now used for reference instead of ISO 9126.
ISO/IEC 20246 is now used for reference instead of IEEE 1028
The Code of Ethics has been moved from chapter one to ISTQB.ORG website

ISTQB Foundation – Certified Tester (Syllabus v2011) Course

This ISTQB Foundation Certificate training course offers an introduction to the fundamentals of Software Testing. Delegates will learn about the main principles of Software Testing, which include testing standards, testing life cycles, testing techniques and tools, and static testing. Participants will also learn how to implement and analyse Software Testing methodology. This training course adopts the ISTQB’s syllabus, hence making Software Testing Foundation an authentic certification to obtain. Software Testing Foundation strives to prepare delegates effectively for the examination.

This training course is appropriate for anybody interested or involved in Software Testing. Particular professions that may benefit from Software Testing Foundation include:Project Managers, Quality Managers, Business Analysts, Management Consultants and IT Directors

There are no prerequisites for this Software Testing Foundation training course, so everyone is able to attend. There is no pre-course reading. However, we recommend participants read the ISTQB Foundation Syllabus to prepare for the Foundation examination

The certification for Foundation Level Extension – Agile Tester is designed for professionals who are working within Agile environments. It is also for professionals who are planning to start implementing Agile methods in the near future, or are working within companies that plan to do so, The certification provides an advantage for those who would like to know the required Agile activities, roles, methods, and methodologies specific to their role.

The Foundation Level Extension – Agile Tester qualification is aimed at professionals who are interested in understanding the testers role in an Agile environment, and need more understanding and knowledge about how to perform and manage testing on all levels in Agile projects.
These professionals include people who are in roles such as testers, test analysts, test engineers, test consultants, test managers, user acceptance testers, and software developers.
This Foundation Level Extension – Agile Tester certification may also be appropriate for anyone who wants a deeper understanding of software testing in the Agile world, such as project managers, quality managers, software development managers, business analysts, IT directors, and management consultants.

Participants must have Core Foundation prior to being eligible for Agile Extension.

ISTQB Advanced – Test Automation Engineer Course

The ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineer Certificate Course is a three day course explaining the tasks of a test automation engineer (TAE) in designing, developing, and maintaining test automation solutions. Advanced Level testers who have passed the “Advanced Test Automation Engineer” certification exam should be able to accomplish the following:

Contribute to the development of a plan to integrate automated testing within the testing process
Evaluate tools and technology for automation best fit to each project and organization.
Create an approach and methodology for building a test automation architecture (TAA).
Design and develop (new or modified) test automation solutions that meet the business needs.
Enable the transition of testing from a manual to an automated approach.
Create automated test reporting and metrics collection.
Manage and optimize testing assets to facilitate maintainability and address evolving (test) system
This Advanced Level qualification course is aimed at people who have achieved an advanced point in their careers in software testing. This includes people in roles such as testers, test analysts, test engineers, test consultants, test managers, user acceptance testers and software developers. This Advanced Level qualification is also appropriate for anyone who wants a deeper understanding of security testing.

Candidates for the ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineer certificate must hold the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level certificate (CTFL).

ISTQB Advanced – Security Tester Course

The Advanced Level Security Tester qualification is aimed at people who have already achieved an advanced point in their careers in software testing and wish to develop further their expertise in security testing. The modules offered at the Advanced Level cover a wide range of testing topics.

This training course is designed for delegates who have an existing knowledge of software testing and software security testing. Delegates should have at least three years experience in the Software Testing sphere. Professions who would benefit from this Advanced Test Manager course include: Software Testers, Security Engineer, Test Analyst, Security Auditor and Test Consultants

To receive Advanced Level certification in the module “Security Tester”, candidates must hold a valid Certified Tester Foundation Level certificate and have sufficient practical experience to be certified at Advanced Level, which should be not less than 3 (three) years of relevant academic, practical, or consulting experience. This training course is designed for delegates who have an existing knowledge of Software Testing. Delegates should have at least three years experience in the Software Testing sphere. It may be useful for delegates to possess the Intermediate certificate, however this is not necessary in prerequisite terms. Professions who would benefit from this Advanced Test Manager course include:Software Testers, Test Engineers, Test Analysts, Test Managers and Test Consultants

Delegates need to hold the ISTQB Foundation certification in order to attend the Advanced Test Manager training. Delegates also need a minimum of three years experience in Software Testing.
There is no compulsory pre-course work. However, we suggests the Test Manager 2012 syllabus and model questions document if you wish to conduct some reading.

ISTQB Advanced – Test Analyst Course
